Speaking on Friday in a meeting with elites and environmental activists, which was held on the occasion of the anniversary of the announcement of general environmental policies by the Supreme Leader, President Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi called the forests a great national treasure and Stressed preservation of forests for future generations, and praised the forest rangers for their efforts in protecting these resources.

According to FRWO's website, in this meeting, President Raisi said that the forests are great public wealth and its preservation is vital for future generations, and we should always be more serious in the preservation and protection of great national wealth, and do not forget that neglecting these great assets can harm the country.

 He referring to the occasion of the anniversary of the announcement of general environmental policies by the Supreme Leader reiterated: "The philosophy of this meeting is to review and follow the implementation of announced policies".

Emphasizing the importance of convening specialized meetings to review and follow the general policies of the system in various fields, the President said, "In such meetings, the reason for non-implementation of some of the policies approved by the system should be reviewed and obstacles to full implementation of these policies should be removed".

Referring to the necessity and importance of paying attention to the environment, the President said, "Human society should be sensitive to aggression against the environment.

Ayatollah Raisi added, "Preservation of the environment should be considered as a divine gift for human life and all living beings, and in this regard, it is necessary to create structures appropriate to this great mission and correct some incorrect behaviours".

Emphasizing the priority of paying attention to the environment over development and economic activity, and that development is a subset of the environment, the President said, "Although development and economic activities are a necessary issue, they must have an environmental attachment and pay attention to the environment".

Pointing out that water shortage is a problem for all people in different provinces today, the President said, "During provincial trips, the most important problem that people demand is water supply, and in this regard, I believe we should pay attention to water management in the country".

Ayatollah Raisi considered the importance of providing education in environmental protection necessary and said, "Today, it is necessary for the mass media, universities, constituencies and tribune holders to play a role in the field of education".

The President considered it necessary to pay attention to the capacities and capabilities of different regions of the country and said, "Undoubtedly, universities have studies in these fields and can identify the capabilities of each province with a specialized view, and the government is obliged to activate the capacities from these findings".

Referring to the problem of waste in the country, Dr Raisi said, "To overcome this problem, we need to create an active mechanism for waste management in the country, and the creation of such a complex is necessary to resolve issues related to waste in a centralized manner".

Referring to the importance of participation of people and non-governmental organizations in environmental protection, Dr Raisi said, "Non-governmental organizations have a valuable role in the field of environment and people's activities in this field should be supported and these are the best support for the government".

The President stated, "Paying attention to the environment is not limited to a specific period of time and we should always be concerned about it".
